Wholesome Snack is done for another year, so I’ll feel cozy and happy for the rest of the day (well, night). One featured game, Loftia, is being developed by Sydney-based indie studio Qloud Games. The upcoming cozy solarpunk MMO has already made a big splash in the gaming world, raising over $1 million on Kickstarter and creating an international community of half a million fans. The new trailer for Loftia showcases Neighborhoods, a social feature allowing players to connect with each other.
Loftia is about creating a world together with others to create a brighter, more sustainable future in a solarpunk world. Aiming to have something for everyone, it includes a wide variety of cozy gameplay mechanics, such as farming, fishing, cooking, crafting, and decorating. The Neighborhoods feature joins other social elements, including group adventures, community projects, clubs, and more.
The Neighborhoods feature allows players to connect in-game, literally. You can attach your personal, floating islands to others to form a small community anchored around a central hub. Neighborhoods bring players closer, matching them with existing friends or finding new ones, allowing them to farm together, visit each other, host events, or just chillax for a moment.
Qloud Games is documenting its development journey online, creating a connection with its growing community. Fans have even been nicknamed Loftians. The developer prioritizes player feedback, creating a new type of community-driven game creation.
“Loftia is our love letter to the classic online worlds that brought so many of us together. There’s something truly special about the nostalgic charm of early online games – the way they’ve connected people and sparked so many lifelong friendships,” said Qloud Games’ co-founders Mic and Martina in a press release. “With Loftia, and with our new Neighborhoods feature, we’re excited for players to rediscover the joy of shared online experiences.”
Developed and published by Qloud Games, Loftia will be released for PC/Mac via Steam and Nintendo Switch. Future Alpha Access will be available via Steam, and Early Access will also launch for Nintendo Switch. The developer would like to bring the game to more platforms.
