Investigate a viral ghost video.

A screenshot from Urban Myth Dissolution Center, taken during its second episode. We see the head and shoulders of a girl with buns, looking spooked. The image is entirely blue... except the red entity behind her, with one wide eye peeping out from behind long hair.

I admit, I might have a slight obsession with Urban Myth Dissolution Center, which launches in February 2025. It sounds wonderful: the publisher describes it as a single-player psycho-detective mystery adventure that has a unique blend of psychological intrigue and supernatural investigation. It is split into episodes/chapters, and the latest trailer showcases what comes in Episode 2: Death from the Reflection. A paranormal video from a shady property… what could go wrong?

Azami Fukurai is at the centre (ha) of Urban Myth Dissolution Center. She can see others’ intentions and residual thoughts through her glasses, making her the perfect choice to work at the titular centre. The company’s specialty is onsite and online adaptive research and collection of myths birthed both online and offline; it investigates and (dis)solves cases involving monstrous oddities, cursed relics, and dimensional anomalies.

Azami learns on the job under the Center’s Owner/Director and Level S psychic, Ayumu Meguriya. He may not be able to do onsite research, but he has incredible clairvoyant abilities. For things that require being onsite, Azami is joined by the Center’s Onsite Operator, Jasmine. Jasmine has a wealth of skills that will come in handy, such as driving and surveillance ops.

As Azami, collect circumstantial evidence and scour social media posts to piece together the truth behind each myth, learn about your clients’ secret pasts, and discover how they are linked to the oddities. Search keywords to trace the story to its originator, interview clients, and check out suspicious locations. Just imagine how useful Azami’s glasses must be during these tasks! Each episode has a resolution and, unfortunately, unintended consequences.

Here is the trailer for Episode 2:

During Episode 2: Death from the Reflection, the case is sparked by a viral ghost video filmed as a property with a sinister past. It seems like a routine investigation but gets dark quickly due to the house’s dark secrets. The shocking truths blur the line between myth and reality. The property’s haunting legacy also affects Azami and Jasmine, forcing them to confront the dark shadows it casts on their lives.

Developed by Hakababunko and published by Shueisha Games, Urban Myth Dissolution Center will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on February 13, 2025. It includes a variety of language options, including English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, and Hindi.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
