Story-focused adventure game Maid Café on Electric Street has you quitting a toxic workplace to live a leisurely daily life at the run-down Fuwa Fuwa Café, a cozy place in Nipponbashi, Osaka. There is a lot of news about the upcoming game today: the release date, the voice cast for the game’s four heroines, and real-life collaborations taking place in-game were all announced.
A cute maid, Shiro, works at the café. You become the new manager because it meets your immediate needs, and three more colourful maids join in. Spend time with all four maids and meet people on Electric Street, and the café (plus you) will become lively once again.
The four maids are Shiro, Miyu, Favna, and Honoka.
- Shiro loves the café, anime, and video games; she works hard but is a little clumsy. She is voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa (Mayonaka Punch, I’m in Love with the Villainess, Bocchi the Rock!, 86).
- Miyu is a game otaku with a huge appetite. She loves eating, cooking, and (no joke) working as a server. She knew Shiro online through the game Magic Angel before they met in real life. She is voiced by Ayasa Itou (Delico’s Nursery, Revue Starlight, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!).
- Favna is a mysterious goth girl who speaks in riddles and demands you become her familiar. Sometimes when she’s surprised, the edgy act drops. She is voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro (The Elusive Samurai, Bocchi the Rock!, Uma Musume Pretty Derby, The Magnificent Kotobuki).
- Honoka has a Kansaiben dialect and is the shrine maiden at her family shrine. Due to her responsibilities there, she is reliable and good with money. She is voiced by Yui Ishikawa (Doctor Elise, The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today, Violet Evergarden, Attack on Titan).
Maid Café on Electric Street is set in Nipponbashi, Osaka, so it only makes sense that many collaborations are happening with real-life stores: visit them to shop and eat in-game just as you would in life. There are also collaborations with indie games: you can buy them from capsule toy machines and stores. Some of the Nipponbashi store collaborators include The old man’s best swing, Game Tanteidan Retro TV Game Revival, Super Potato, and Dragon Star. Only two indie game collaborators have been announced — Marfusha: Sentinel Girls and VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action.
Developed by Adventurer’s Tavern and published by Playism, Maid Café on Electric Street will be released for PC via Steam on November 18. Console versions are in development.
