It’s that time of year again! We’re counting down the days to Christmas with our own little “advent calendar” – one new game to play over the holiday season each and every day.
As the year winds down, things get really busy. We’ve got Christmas parties to attend, the end of year rush on work, and all the rest of it. But it’s also a time where we take holidays, find a moment to relax, and enjoy the company of others. This is the best chance to catch up on some key games that you might have missed from the year… or just play that multiplayer game that you’ve been waiting to get a crew together for.
Day 6: Dokapon Kingdom: Connect
I very closely associate board games with Christmas. The reason is pretty simple: Christmas is the time my family comes together, and when my family comes together some form of board game is generally inevitable. I’m quite certain that I’m not the only one in that position out there, and I suspect that it’s a fairly common Christmas tradition.
Dokapon Kingdom: Connect is a particularly appealing board game, because it’s also a JRPG! It’s an ecclectic mix, but it works as you get into it. Published by Idea Factory, you do the usual thing of running around a board acquiring properties (in this case cities), and accumulating wealth, but you are also in control of a JRPG character that fights in battles, levels up, and acquires new skills. The only downside to it is that a game can run on long… but then that’s what holidays are for, right?
