The first trailer for The Dark Side of the Moon 2 is here
The Dark Side of the Moon was a pretty decent indie FMV game that first launched for PC via Steam in 2021, and soon after for mobile devices. You can read my review here. In the game, a man’s children are missing and he’ll do anything to get them back. Late last week, the developer released the first trailer for its sequel, The Dark Side of the Moon 2.
Compared to the first game, The Dark Side of the Moon 2 will be less interactive film and more heavily puzzle-based. Interactive films generally have people make decisions as part of a branching narrative, whereas this game will be more problem-solving than just making choices.
Developed by Tayanna Studios, The Dark Side of the Moon 2 will be released in 2024.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will now be developed by The Chinese Room
Dear Esther developer The Chinese Room has taken over development of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 from its original developer, Hardsuit Labs. The game was originally meant to be released in early 2020, and I think many assumed it would never see the light of day. So to recap: an anticipated game has returned to development, with a really talented developer at the helm.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 brings players to the dark underbelly of Seattle, a place where vampires struggle for survival and supremacy. Players take on the role of an Elder vampire and meet compelling characters, maneuver complex political relationships, stalk to city for prey, and engage in combat… all while balancing the need for blood. The Masquerade, the absolute law of secrecy keeping vampires hidden fro society, must always be at the back of your mind. You don’t want to break it.
Developed by The Chinese Room and published by Paradox Interactive, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be released for PC via Steam/Epic/GOG, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series in Q4 2024. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are no longer planned.
Back to the Future is coming to PowerWash Simulator
I’m not going to lie, I’m still mad that saving on PowerWash Simulator for Nintendo Switch is busted unless you start anew; it’s been like that for months now and I miss it. It should be fixed in the next big update, though, so looking ahead is good. Last week, new paid DLC was announced: the Back to the Future Special Pack.
Travel back in time to hose down iconic movie sets and props inspired by the Back to the Future franchise, including Doc Brown’s can, the Time Machine, Hill Valley Clocktower, the Holomax Theatre, and Doc’s Time Train. The developer worked closely with Universal Games and Digital Platforms to ensure the content is faithful to the timeless trilogy.
Developed by FuturLab and published by Square Enix Collective, PowerWash Simulator is now available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. The Back to the Future Special Pack will be released later this year.
Lempo launches this week
Inspired by Finnish mythology, Lempo is a psychological horror game about a guy who gets lost in a forest after a day at work. Players will uncover stories of people who were tapped in Metsanpeitto before him. He will have limited items to help find out what happened in this eerie place and get back to his normal life before the malevolent forest consumes him.
Metsanpeitto is a realm sustained by the energy of souls. It isn’t a place for mere mortals. It defies the laws of our world, introducing beings beyond imagination. Chilling visuals and eerie sounds blur the line between reality and the unknown. Escaping isn’t about combat: it’s about solving intricate puzzles scattered through the realm. Can you escape both physically and mentally unscathed?
Developed by One Trick Entertainment and published by PID Games, Lempo will be released for PC via Steam/Epic/GOG and PlayStation 5 on September 7.
