I only recently read my first Agatha Christie novel, And Then There Were None. I was blown away, but a bit intimidated to get into the Poirot series as it is just so extensive. The existence of his cases in video game, form, makes them seem much more accessible for some reason. There’s Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders, based on an actual book, but there’s also a series with Poirot named in the titles. These are new stories. The first was Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The First Cases. The next was just announced today, titled Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case.
Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case is by the same BAFTA award-winning team behind the first game, so I think the developer is worth trusting by now. This new chapter in Hercule Poirot’s story is actually a brand-new story, true to the style and tone of the original queen of mystery herself, Agatha Christie. It does hurt me a bit to see others using her character, but again, the last game won awards so let’s see how this goes.
Along with his sidekick Arthur Hastings, Poirot must support the safe transport of a priceless work of art to be displayed in London. However, when the opening night doesn’t go as planned, the detectives will be called to solve a new mystery in the heart of London. Players will explore the city, search for clues, interview suspects and witnesses, and eventually solve the mystery.
The game features a new match puzzle system to spot inconsistencies from witness and suspect interrogations. Get up close to the environment with new first-person inspection muzzles. As with the last title, mindmaps make a return: build challenging mindmaps and then draw the connect links to solve the case. Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case Is fully voiced in English, French, and German.
Developed by Blazing Griffin Studio and published by Microids, Agatha Christie – Hercule Poirot: The London Case will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One in Q3 2023.
