Shadows of the Damned is Suda 51’s most complete work to date. Previous games have featured flashes of brilliance (usually around concept and storytelling) amongst some painful execution (usually the gameplay).
It really is a descent into hell, for one thing. Previous games with a similar theme, such as Dante’s Inferno, were tame by comparison. Shadows of the Damned becomes progressively more hellish as you move on. By the time you get to the end… Suda’s pushed the limits of good taste and the censors to the limit.
Well, the video was kind of odd(game-play side)…not sure what type of game-play it's going for.
A third-person action/shooter, puzzle based level layout?
Around the 2:50-ish mark in the video, I did notice what appeared to be A LOT of dead zombies/bodies on the ground…and that weird veil of stuff…
The beginning of the video did make me think of the word "linear", because of how small the hallways/alleyways were.

The game is very linear yes. I wouldn't say it was 'puzzle' in the traditional sense though. Killing the bosses were like puzzles, but for the rest of it is is more like a mix between survival horror (RE 4/ 5 style) and action.
The veil you see is the darkness. Basically, if it's dark, it's bad news for you.
