Hunter-Killer Announced for XBLA

2 mins read

No, not Hunter-Killer like in Terminator, Hunter-Killer like in the ’90s comic book series by Mark Waid and Marc Silvestri.

Co-created by comic powerhouses, Marc Silvestri (artist) and Mark Waid (writer), the story concerns a government program to create genetically-enhanced living super-weapons – known as “Ultras” – to combat the threat of nuclear war. When several Ultras go rogue, the government sets its loyal Ultras – the “Hunter-Killers” – to track down and “neutralise” them.

The book actually had a pretty cool, if short, run and had some amazing visuals by Mr. Silvestri. If anybody out there remembers it give yourself a ‘no prize’. Now it’s Union Entertainment and Zombie Studios bringing the property back to life in the digital world with an emphasis on team play, which is something that ties in perfectly with the comic.

There’s a pretty good pedigree here too because, you’re not familiar with them, Zombie was the team that brought you last year’s excellent Blacklight: Tango Down.

“As an avid gamer, I really like how Zombie plans to bring Hunter-Killer to life,” Top Cow President, Matt Hawkins, said. “Bringing a great developer like Zombie and a great game design to a premier Top Cow title is exactly what we expect and get out of our ongoing alliance with Union.”

Fans take note, the title will be shown off in some form at e3 with the developers still hunting for a publisher.
