For those who have been following the legal battle between Bethesda and Minecraft developer, Mojang, over the latter’s attempt to use “Scrolls” as the title for its new game, good news for the indie; it’s won an interim injunction.
Bethesda has been claiming that Scrolls is too similar to its own Eldar Scrolls franchise for it to be legal. But a tweet from Mojang founder, Notch, has suggested that Scrolls will be able to keep its name.
“We won ther interim injunction!” The tweet said. Of course, it’s likely Bethesda will appeal, but the indie developer is one step closer from putting this behind them.
Good for Mojang. I'm all for companies protecting their intellectual rights but seriously? The single word Scrolls? What's next, Elder and The? 🙂

My immediate reaction after hearing about Bethesda's ridiculous lawsuit was to facepalm and think: "Looks like someone is pulling a Langdell."
This was no different than when Tim Langdell tried to pick on that indie developer for calling their game Edge, and I'm glad that the arbitrator gave the injunction to Mojang.
Honestly, I felt a bit disheartened that Bethesda, of all companies, would be one to go after another company for something so asinine. I liked Bethesda a lot and this has done nothing but sour their public image. (Not to say I won't buy their games in the future: I fully realize that this is more than likely the handiwork of some crazy lawyer trying to earn himself another buck, and doesn't actually come from the developers of The Elder Scrolls game.)
Long story short: GO MOJANG!
