As long as you have your neighborhood mapped by Google’s invasive excellent maps service, you too can bring the zompocalypse home with Zombie Outbreak Simulator on iOS.
This may be one of the coolest little App toys I’ve ever seen. While not exactly a game, ZOS takes your standard Google map and (un?)livens things up by adding a slavering zombie horde. While that in and of itself might not sound all that exciting, it’s also far from all this little app has going for it.
You see, once you set your map, you can set the amount of infected that populate it and tons more. For instance, zombies can be fast movers or slow plodders and survivors and law enforcement presence are also fully customisable. You can even change things up right down to whether humans are armed or not.
With new iOS exclusive features, you can now zoom in and out on the action to keep track of the infection as it spreads across the map! Watch from a high satellite view to get an overview of the infection, represented by green dots for civilians, red for zombies and blue for police. Or zoom right in and watch as civilians run for their lives, shoot at zombies and inevitably become infected. Keep track of the people’s only hope – local law enforcement, as they fight back against overwhelming odds.
At $1.99 USD it’s not exactly a freebie, but Zombie Outbreak Simulator just might be well worth it depending on just how much free time you have to eat up. Get ready for contamination right here.
