I don't know why. This series has never appealed to me. Doesn't have the ADD challenge of Tetris, and it's too limited as a puzzler to be much fun to me.
I'd rather just play Yoshi.

Mostly agree. I'd take Yoshi or Tetris over Dr. Mario any day, but I can still see why people might like the simplicity. It's alright in small doses despite the very shallow mechanics.
I don't understand why Yoshi is usually cited as inferior, though.
In agreement here. I like Dr. Mario, it's a fun time-killer, but Tetris has always appealed to me a lot more – maybe just due to the different shapes keeping things a bit more interesting?
