Two great things that go great together… wait, no they don’t. Good thing these two Xbox Live Arcade releases have nothing to do with each other then.
The single biggest release on the service this week is far and away The Walking Dead Episode 2: Starved for Help. Telltale’s incredible prolog to the hit series/comic book has taken adventure gaming to the next level and has really caught on with gamers and fans of Bob Kirkman’s horror universe alike. No reason to think that Episode 2 won’t be just as good as Episode 1: Brand New Day was.
Also available this week is Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad. The rough and tumble racer promises loads of different vehicles and customization options as well as a full on career mode. I’m not usually into games like this, but Offroad looks really sharp- probably at least worth a look.
Dawnguard drops today as well and expands Skyrim with its secret vampire war. I’ve heard some kind of scary things about this expansion- and none of them have anything to do with the undead. Mainly, a rumor is floating about that says the game freezes often and even crashes completely if you’re running Skyrim off of the disc with Dawnguard installed. Nothing substantiated, so it’s all totally grain of salt type stuff… but maybe save early. And often.
Rounding things out this week are some nice sales on some older stuff you may have missed (X-Men Arcade!), The CQC pack for Battlefield 3, and that update to the ending of that game… you know the one. Name escapes me at the moment…
