Thanks to commenter, Malek Teffafa, for clarifying the situation for us with a link to a VG 24/7 story.
As we’d previously reported, Max Payne 3 developer, Rockstar Vancouver, is closing down. This much remains true. The good news, however, is that it’s closing down to merge with the Rockstar Toronto business unit.
The original story:
Rumours ahoy: news will be updated as it comes in.
Except it’s not really a rumour. A tweet from industry publication, Gamasutra, says it all, really:
“We just got word that Max Payne 3 developer Rockstar Vancouver is closing down. News story soon…”
According to the Wikipedia page, the developer employs 75 people, and was responsible for the following games over the years:
as Barking Dog Studios
Homeworld: Cataclysm (2000) (PC)
Counter-Strike (2000) (PC) (Various maps) (with Valve Software)
Global Operations (2002) (PC)
Treasure Planet: Battle at Procyon (2002) (PC)
as Rockstar Vancouver
Bully (2006) (PlayStation 2)
Bully: Scholarship Edition (2008) (PC, Xbox 360, Wii) (with Rockstar New England and Rockstar Toronto)
Max Payne 3 (2012) (PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox 360)
Another sad day in a string of say days for the games industry. These guys were pretty talented developers, no?
They are not closing. They are merging with the Toronto Studio.

Thank you for that find and posting it up, Malek – I've updated the story to reflect the more accurate information.
Much apprecaited that you took the time to let us know!
