Activision reveals the next two missions in 007 Legends

We’ve already got Moonraker and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, now 007 fans can count Die Another Day and License to Kill among the Bond classics that’ll be worked into 007 Legends.

007 Legends is a pretty unique take on a Bond game. Set in the Daniel Craig era, Legends ties five classic films together into an overarching storyline that concludes with a sixth downloadable (and free) Skyfall level that’ll be available shortly after launch.

There’s still one more adventure left to be unveiled by Activision and developer Eurocom (though the trailer says there’s two left, I’m pretty sure one of them is Skyfall). With all the movies that’ve been emblazoned with the name of the famous agent, it couldn’t have been easy to pick which ones to feature.

“The method of picking which James Bond movies to include in 007 Legends was a deep and thoughtful process between Eurocom, Activision, EON and Danjaq,” said David G. Wilson, VP of Global Business Strategy, EON. “We took great care in selecting movies that helped define who Bond has become over the years, and ones that could be tied together in a compelling way to pay homage to 50 years of 007.”

In 007 Legends’ Die Another Day movie-inspired mission, the quintessential secret agent is sent to rendezvous with Agent Jinx to investigate the connection between Gustav Graves – a diamond mogul funding the development of an international space weapon called Icarus – and a North Korean terrorist set on unifying his country once and for all. With Jinx’s help, Bond must chase down Graves, racing along ice while duelling against North Korean spies and Graves’ allies, all while dodging concentrated blasts of solar energy from the Icarus weapon. After confronting Graves on his high-flying jet, Bond must prevent triggering a war between North and South Korea and escape the stricken jet before it’s destroyed.

In the Licence to Kill movie-inspired mission, Bond enlists the help of U.S. Drug Enforcement Agent Pam Bouvier in order to avenge Felix Leiter and uncover a vast international drug operation headed by an evil Mexican drug lord with terrorist connections – Fran Sanchez. After detonating a massive explosion in Sanchez’s drug refinery, Bond will have to capture Sanchez before he escapes, ending in a brutal physical confrontation on-board a moving tanker truck. Will Bond be able to avenge his friend or will he be killed by Sanchez?

It’s pretty fun to see these classic 007 movies ‘updated’ to the Craig films’ sensibilities. Adding to the big budget vibe will be the return of actors Toby Stevens (Gustav Graves) and Carey Lowell (Agent Pam Bouvier), who’ll be reprising their roles.

Everything looks like the stars are aligning on this one. As a big James Bond fan, I’m just going to cross my fingers and 007 Legends plays as good as it looks when the game launches for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 16th.

  • Might be some bullshot here when comparing the screenshots, cinematics and actual gameplay footage, the latter looks looks old and dated.

I dont mind the updating of license to kill to modern era as that already was 'modern era'

  • I don't mind the visual style. My great worry with this game is it's going to be yet another carbon-copy of the Call of Duty formula.

Especially since it's from the same developers of the Goldeneye remake, and that is a carbon-copy of the Call of Duty formula.
