Sony held a brief event where it showcased its commitment to indie and self published games. The numbers are impressive, to say the least.
According to Sony, there have already been 21 self-published games made available on the PlayStation 4, and 20 million units have been sold – that’s 3 self-published games per console.
Looking forward, PlayStation 4 owners have a lot to look forward to – there are 100 self-published games formally in the works, and there are over 1,000 licensed PlayStation 4 developers.
Some of the games, as highlighted by the PlayStation Blog (with trailers) below:
- Apotheon, Alien Trap Games – PS4
- Axiom Verge, Thomas Happ Games – PS4 and Vita
- Chasm, Discord Games – PS4
- Drifter, Celsius Game Studios – PS4 and Vita
- Escape Goat 2, MagicalTimeBean – PS4
- Ironclad Tactics, Zachtronics – PS4
- Jamestown Plus, Final Form Games – PS4
- Nidhogg, Messhof – PS4
- Skulls of the Shogun Bone-A-Fide Edition, 17-Bit – PS4 and Vita
- Source, Fenix Fire – PS4
- Spelunky, BlitWorks – PS4 (with 1080p visuals and new social Daily Challenge features)
- Starwhal: Just the Tip, Breakfall – PS3 and PS4
So, which are you looking forward to? For me, it’s got to be Ironclad Tactics, which looks like a great little card-based tactics game.
And of course Nidhogg. Because Nidhogg.
