Plenty of video games have managed to jump to another medium; games are occasionally adapted into movies, and less commonly TV shows. And occasionally, video games make it onto the big stage (I personally will always regret missing out on the Ace Attorney musical). The Last of Us, which is already making its way to the big screen, will now be performed on stage, for one night only.

A one-time reading of selected scenes will take place on July 28th, to celebrate the launch of the remastered version of The Last of Us. While some lucky fans will be able to score tickets to the event, those who can’t make it will be able to watch selected portions of the performance from recordings that will air on Twitch, YouTube, and the PlayStation Live Event Viewer.

Here’s a brief excerpt from the PlayStation Blog, detailing the event:

One Night Live will highlight the artistry behind The Last of Us with a live reading of selected scenes by the principal actors, under the direction of Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog. Scheduled to appear are Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Merle Dandridge, Hana Hayes, and Annie Wersching. In addition, Academy Award winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla will perform selections from his score.

While it’s a bit unclear how this event will pan out, it’s interesting to see games being represented in other media, and I’m always hopeful that this will help pave the way for future adaptations.
