Here’s only a selection of them. There are a whole load that we’ve either forgotten or simply run out of the energy to write them all out. So apologies if we’ve left your #1 game off the list!

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair – Vita – Release Date 2/9/2014
Danganronpa was one of the most intelligent games that any of us have ever played, so it goes without saying that all of us at DDNet are deeply looking forward to the sequel. Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair is going to have us dreaming of Monokuma all over again.
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate – PS4, PS3, XB1 – Release Date 2/9/2014
Koei Tecmo is taking a third bite of the Warriors Orochi 3 cherry, but it’s difficult to hold that against the team when the core game is this good. As we outlined in our preview, there hasn’t been that much done to what was always a brilliant game, but we’re not complaining that in the slightest.
NHL 15 – PS3, PS4, 360, XB1 – Release Date 9/9/2014
NHL 15 marks the debut of the EA hockey franchise on eighth generation consoles and it couldn’t look better! With better physics for both the puck and players, authentic arenas, and a new commentary team comprised of Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick and Eddie Olczyk, this is looking to be one of the best NHL games in a long time.
Destiny – PS3, PS4, 360, XB1 – Release Date 9/9/2014
I am not a big fan of online gaming so I didn’t expect much from Destiny… but then I played the Beta, and this one may well convert me. In fact, we all rather liked it at DDNet, despite it not being our typical focus. It’s been a long enough wait, so now that the wait is just about over it’s time to get the trigger fingers ready, because Destiny is sure to be a masterpiece.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call – 3DS – Release Date 16/9/2014
For the fans of Final Fantasy music (so, everyone, right?) comes Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call. The sequel to Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, Curtain Call will have over 200 songs from over 20 Final Fantasy titles. From the classics to the newer titles in the Final Fantasy series everyone is going to find a load of music that they like in this one.
Fairy Fencer F – PS3 – Release Date 16/9/2014
Hey Matt, I don’t know much about this game but its a JRPG so maybe you will? It looks good!
Sure, Jim! Fairy Fencer is a “serious” Hyperdimenion Neptunia. Coming to us from Compile Heart, the game has art from Tsunako, music from Nobuo Uematsu, and signature gameplay very similar to the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, this is set to be another underground hit game from one of our favourite niche Japanese developers.
Natural Doctrine – PS3, PS4, Vita – Release Date 23/9/2014
For the strategy role-playing game fans out there we have Natural Doctrine coming in September. Not much is known about the storyline of this game yet, or at least I don’t know much about it, but from what I have seen it looks to be a fine SRPG. Natural Doctrine will feature both single & multiplayer modes including co-operative play. It will also have cross save across the PS3, PS4 and Vita, and dual-voices for those who prefer Japanese voice acting in their Japanese games.
FIFA 15 – PS3, PS4, Vita, Xbox 360, XB1, Wii (yes you read that right, a Wii game!), 3DS – Release Date 23/9/2014
We recently had a hands-on play of FIFA 15, and it impressed us. A new engine with some new features to herald the franchise into the next generation in full (though that only applies to the next-gen versions), FIFA 15 is no doubt going to be a very, very big seller when it releases in September.
Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star – PS3 – Release Date 23/9/2014
The latest game in Koei Tecmo’s “Ar” franchise, Ar Nosurge has a unique battle system and a bunch of fascinating characters. We had a brief hands on earlier in the month, and if the rest of the game keeps up the form of that first hour, it’s going to be one of the many reasons you’ll not want to unplug that PlayStation 3 just yet.
Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!! – PS3, Vita – Release Date 23/9/2014
Love Max is an updated version of the PlayStation Network-only Arcana Heart 3. This is one of those super-hardcore 2D fighting games, with a unique feature featuring an all female cast of 23 characters. The game will also feature new modes including an online and versus mode.
Hyrule Warriors – Wii U – Release Date 26/9/2014
Two Warriors games in one month? What madness is this? This Wii U exclusive is shaping up as a dash of Zelda fan service mixed with a whole load of Dynasty Warriors-style action, and will no doubt be one of the finest games to land on the Wii U between here and Christmas.
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes And Punishments – PS3, PS4, 360, XB1, PC – Release Date 30/9/2014
Sherlock Holmes is back with six different cases to solve. It is up to Holmes to gather evidence and to question and analyze every place and person he meets. Each case has up to eight different endings, depending on the choices players make and what clues he may have missed, and may even end up sending the wrong person to prison.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax – PS3, 360 – Release Date 30/9/2014
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a sequel to the original Persona 4 Arena. Another one of those hardcore 2D fighting games the original Arena surprised many by doing a good job of extending the narrative of the brilliant JRPG, Persona 4. Ultimax will add a new story that continues immediately after the events of the first game, and if this is anything like the first, it’s going to be a blast to play for both fighting game fans and Persona fans.
Forza Horizon 2 – 360, XB1 – Release Date 30/9/2014
Forza Horizon was one of my favorite racing games on the Xbox 360 and I can not wait for Horizon 2. It looks better than ever on the Xbox One and with new features such as changing weather and day-tonight cycles. Horizon 2 will have more than 200 cars to race around in a massive open world.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – PS3, PS4, 360, XB1, – Release Date 30/9/2014 – PC Release Date 2/10/2014
There have been lots of Lord of the Rings games in the past and only a few of them turned out to be good, but Shadow of Mordor genuinely looks like it’s going to change all that. Shadow of Mordor is about Talion, a Ranger of the Black Gate, whose life changes forever when everything is taken from him including his own life. Brought back to life by a vengeful spirit, Talion embarks on a quest for revenge as he searches for the ones who have wronged him. It translates into a lot of killing of orcs, and Lord of the Rings fans will enjoy that, we think.
Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus – Vita – Release Date 30/9/2014
The follow up to one of our favourite 3DS games so far this year, Senran Kagura is easy to dismiss as being a useless jiggly button masher, but in practice it’s actually a lot of fun, and an effective satire of various otaku tropes. We expect no less from the Vita edition.
