Become acquainted with the AI lord who would see you defeated: the scowling, aggressive, unpredictable antagonist of the Stronghold series, The Wolf, returns to taunt you over the insecurities of your action plan or flat out mock you with witty hyperbole when you request his support in the upcoming Stronghold Crusader 2, a castle simulation RTS developed by Firefly Studios.
The Wolf isn’t the type of mythical malevolent opponent who attacks first and attacks hard; he’s of the patient lot, the kind of iron-fisted strategist who builds up his forces behind thick, impregnable stone walls as you sweat under the mysteries of his battle plan. Rushing him near the beginning of the skirmish is an option, if you can match his numbers and employ Crossbowmen to penetrate his troops’ thick armour. Or you can build up your army and wait him out. Whatever method you go with, his cunning and ferocity is guaranteed to offer a searing challenge.
Details of The Wolf from Firefly Studios:
Stronghold is known for its tendency to test players’ mental dexterity, and with the resurgence of these kinds of games it makes perfect sense to include The Wolf,” the developer said in a new blog post. “We want this addition to the cast of AI characters to reinforce our message that Crusader 2 retains the series’ sense of challenge. When you are victorious against The Wolf, or any character for that matter, it should feel like an absolute triumph.”
An opponent who taunts the player with lines such as “I would rather tear down your castle with a spoon than offer you assistance,” The Wolf does not mince words. As an AI Lord he is not the greatest ally, his aggressive attitude and unpredictable mood making military assistance or trade unlikely. As an AI opponent however The Wolf provides skilled Stronghold players with the worthy challenge they seek.
