You know, there’s a point where a release schedule is so packed that it’s just a little crazy. How anyone is going to be able to play (much less afford) all the games that they’ll want this month is beyond us. Because regardless of your taste in games we can guarantee that there is a whole lot of stuff here that you’re not going to want to miss out on.
So without further ado or comment, here are all the games you’ll be playing in October. Good luck.
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance – PS4 – Release Date 6/10/2015
In the latest Disgaea, you will take the role of Killia as he tries to stop the reign of Void Dark who seeks to enslave the Netherworlds. This promises to be the biggest and best Disgaea to date, with a new combat system called Alliance Attack. Only when relationships are appropriately aligned will these attacks become available. Another new attack mode is Revenge Mode, the Revenge Mode empowers characters with higher stats when their allies are getting beat up. And, for all the tactical action, you can of course look forward to a load of humour as well.
The Legend of Legacy – 3DS – Release Date 13/10/2015
With one heck of a development team, including illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi (SaGa series), composer Masashi Hamauzu (SaGa, Final Fantasy XIII), writer Masato Kato (Chrono Trigger), game designer Kyoji Koizumi (SaGa series), and Masataka Matsuura (999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors). The Legend of Legacy is a JRPG that sees seven adventurers set out on a quest to explore the island of Avalon and uncover the mysteries of its past. You just know it’s going to be awesome.
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below – PS4 – Release Date 13/10/2015
Square Enix and Omega Force team up to bring us Dragon Quest Heroes! Much like Hyrule Warriors Dragon Quest Heroes will have the action of a Warriors game, but with the characters and monsters from the Dragon Quest series. In the kingdom of Erusaze humans and monsters live peacefully together. One day, monsters began to attack humans suddenly, and that’s where you come in. With all the charm of Dragon Quest and some of the most popular characters from the series being playable, this one will really scratch an itch for fans when it lands.

Grand Ages Medieval Limited Edition – PS4 – Release Date 13/10/2015
Grand Ages Medieval is a grand-scale real-time strategy game set in, you guessed it, the Middle Ages (starting at 1050 AD to be exact). As the head of a small settlement you must lead your people to greatness. To do this you must explore a vast world, gather resources, encounter other societies and trade with them. Only then can you found new cities, learn new technologies, and protect your trade routes. Once powerful enough, you can start your military conquest over Europe. Grand Ages is looking to be a fine RTS, and a good example of a genre underrepresented on console.
Corpse Party: Blood Drive – Ever After Edition – Vita – Release Date 13/10/2015
Corpse Party: Blood Drive is the final chapter in the Heavenly Host storyline. For anyone who don’t know what Corpse Party is… it’s a very disturbing horror narrative franchise. The game uses a top-down 3D perspective while exploring, and visual novel-style cutscenes to tell the story. The game will have many endings and I’m sure very few of those will be pleasant.
Just Dance 2016 – PS3, PS4, 360, XB1, Wii, Wii U – Release Date 20/10/2015
Just Dance is back and this year you won’t even need a camera to play it. Players will be able to use a smartphone app to use as a controller that scores your dance moves. Added this year is the return of sweat mode. Sweat mode is a workout mode with personalised workouts sounds like burning calories can be fun. Other new modes are Dance Party where you and friends or family work together to get a high score. This series has never been essential, as such, but it has always been genuine good fun. This year promises to be the same.
Tales of Zestiria – PS3, PS4, PC – Release Date 20/10/2015
The Tales series is back, and for the first time it’s on PS4 and PC. This all-new adventure will have you playing as Sorey, a young man who find himself thrust into the role of the Shepard that the world’s legends foretold. His task? Nothing short of becoming the savior of all. Will Sorey be able to return peace to the land? We won’t have to wait long to find out.
Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space – Vita – Release Date 20/10/2015
A remake of a remake, EDF 2 first came out on the PS2 and then a remake of it was made for the PSP. Now it is getting a new Vita release. You can play with up to four friends in co-op mode. With over 70 missions to work through this series is well known for being pure brain candy – not the most in-depth franchise ever invented, but a whole lot of arcade-like fun. Yes this was in last month’s list, but it was delayed until October and we’re sticking it in here because it still looks like a whole lot of fun.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – PS4, XB1 – Release Date 23/10/2015
Syndicate takes place in London in the year 1868, during the Industrial Revolution. For the first time players will be able to play as two main characters whom they can freely switch between. Twins Jacob and Evie Frye arrive in London to find that the city is controlled by the Templars. Raised as Assassins the twins fight to take back the city from the Templars. There will be no multiplayer in this years Assassin’s Creed so hopefully that’s a sign Ubisoft has put more effort into the storytelling and coming up with some original ideas for missions. That sounds like a step in the right direction for the series to us. And hey, Jack the Ripper will make an appearance too, and that’s just awesome.
Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition – PS4, XB1 – Release Date 27/10/2015
This PC game makes the jump onto consoles this October with a bunch of new and enhanced content. Divinity is an RPG that can be played alone or on co-op multiplayer online or in local split-screen. There is a new 360-degree camera and updated visuals and effects just for the console edition of the game. With its new and enhanced content for consoles, even if you played the PC version you may want to check this one out again, especially since it was such an awesome game in the first place.
SUPERBEAT: XONiC – Vita – Release Date 27/10/2015
Superbeat is a rhythm game that is considered a spiritual successor to the DJMax. Players can use the buttons on the Vita or the touch screen and tap to the beat of a song. With over 50 songs of different difficulties and a variety of genres such as indie pop, progressive metal, and much more, superbeat will have you jamming for a long time to come. The big question, of course, is can this one top Miku? Matt would shoot me for even suggesting such a thing, but who knows!
Halo 5: Guardians – XB1 – Release Date 27/10/2015
I’m sure you all know what Halo is by now? You know the game where you play as Master Chief? Well… arguably the most respected FPS genre is back. This time players will not only be playing as Master Chief, but also as Spartan Locke as he hunts down Master Chief. The game will be played with up to four players co-op and features new competitive muti-player modes. A few of the modes are the massive 24-player warzone battles, while the classic 4-vs-4 competitive combat also makes a return. If you’re a fan of the FPS genre, co-op or competitive mutiplayer Halo 5 will be sure to please.
