Serial Cleaner is coming, because someone needs to clean up murder scenes
iFun4all has announced Serial Cleaner, a funny, yet dark, take on who has to clean up the scene of a crime. We’re not talking cops here though; no, we’re talking who dumps the bodies, covers blood stains, and hides the murder weapon. Serial Cleaner is a stealth game with a gorgeous 70s aesthetic where the player takes control of a 30-ish man with a big bushy moustache and tight pants. He is the man to clean up these grisly crimes so the perpetrators can never be fingered. He doesn’t discriminate, and is willing to help everyone from mobsters to regular people in a pickle — always for a price. Perhaps the coolest part is that the game uses real-world data to change levels based on the current time of day wherever the player is.
Call of Cthulhu leaps from paper to consoles/PC next year
French indie developer Cyanide Studios has taken on an iconic character, as they will be creating the official game of the original pen and paper RPG by the same name. Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game is an adaptation of Chasosium’s classic game where players take on the role as Edward Piece. Pierce is a former veteran and current Private Eye who is investigating the mysterious death of a family in Darkwater Island. This is obviously not the first Cthulhu game, as Lovecraft’s The Call of Cthulhu as been adapted easily over a dozen times in video game form (not to mention the stories, books, and films). Regardless, this adaptation of the old-school RPG is definitely one to keep your eye on. Call of Cthulhu will be released for PC and consoles sometime next year.
This War Of Mine: The Board Game over 400% funded
If you haven’t played This War Of Mine in one of its many forms, you are missing out. The game is a heart-wrenching look at the side of war not often explored in games — the civilians. We have a review of the iPad version here, but the game is also available for PC and on consoles (the console versions have expanded content featuring children). This week, This War Of Mine expanded into new territory as a board game, with the Kickstarter campaign being funded within three hours (I was backer 102, a badge I wear proudly). As of writing, the game is sitting pretty at over 400% of their initial goal; as a result, the stretch goals are expanding rapidly. Whether the game makes the jump from digital to traditional successfully is yet to be seen, especially considering the constant new additions due to stretch goals, but I for one cannot wait to find out.
Fight aliens and find your dream girl in Just Deserts
Who said battling aliens and finding love cannot be done simultaneously? Okay, probably nobody, but it still can’t be an easy task. Take on the role of a soldier defending Aquarine City from some rather violent aliens. For some reason, you end up assigned to a group of extremely skilled and dangerous girls, and with their help you must save the city and capture the heart of whichever girl makes butterflies appear in your stomach. The game includes full English voice acting, three in-game languages (English, Japanese, Indonesian), and seven different endings. Just Deserts comes from Indonesian development circle Vifth Floor and LA-based Sekai Project, and will be launched on PC via Steam on July 11.
