Sugar school’s in session
Sometimes, all you need from a game is for it to make you smile. For me, A Gummy’s Life does that. It’s just so stupid, and I mean that in a good way. The game features gummy candy characters fighting it out local/online multiplayer physics-based battles. It’s candy versus candy. And the candy is coming to more consoles! Take a look at the latest teaser trailer:
There are many gummies to chose from, including Gummy Bear, Cola Bottle, Fried Egg, and Shark. Each gummy has individual stats. Levels contain different styles, such as Hot Potato, King of the Hill, Team Deathmatch, and Free-For-All. Up to eight players can join in on the winner-takes all battles.
A Gummy’s Life has been available for PC and Nintendo Switch for about three years now. It will be launched for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One later this year.
No soup for you! At least, not this month…
After filling up on gummy candies, we’ll all be super full with tummy aches for awhile. As such, it’s almost fortunate that Soup Pot is delayed – emphasis on almost, as Soup Pot seems delightful. The developer, Chikon Club, has delayed the game from the initial target of August 2021.

The cooking game includes 100 recipes incorporating hundreds of ingredients, but players can alter the recipe steps and ingredients as they see fit. The steps are highly interactive, so it’s not just a case of choosing what you want and sitting back as it happens automatically. Players can also choose complimentary plate styles. The title aims to bring cooking back home, where it all begins. There’s no way to really fail, it’s all about exploration. The cooking will be “live-streamed” and viewers will give both compliments and sarcastic comments.
Soup Pot will launch later this year for PC via Steam and Xbox Series. The delay will allow the developer time to polish the title to make it shine as much as possible.
Cook up a storm, Final Fantasy style
Three food-related stories in one catch-up coffee is unheard of, yet here we are. Square Enix is releasing several Final Fantasy XIV books in the coming months, but this one may be the most intriguing: The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook. Grab a napkin before watching this trailer (yep, a book trailer!) because you’ll be drooling by the end of it:
The book is 192 pages and in full colour. It features step-by-step directions along with some gorgeous food photography. There are recipes for every occasion, from quick snacks to fancy desserts. The recipes are meant to recreate the extensive culinary landscape of Final Fantasy XIV Online. Some examples are Farmer’s Breakfast, Knight’s Bread of Coerthas, and La Noscea’s Rolanberry Cheesecake although who knows where one may find rolanberries in the real world!
The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook will be released on November 9, and pre-orders are now open. There is a special cover design available to those in North America (“North America and Canada” according to Square Enix, which is ridiculously redundant) who buy the book through GameStop.
WitchSpring 3 Re:Fine – The Story of Eirudy launches this month in the west
Have you ever played a witch-raising turn-based RPG? I can’t say I have. I didn’t even know it was a subgenre until today, and I’m actually quite sad that I’ve missed however long I could have had raising witches. Oh well. WitchSpring 3 Re:Fine – The Story of Eirudy offers a strong storyline, interesting characters, a compelling adventure, and even famous Japanese voice actors. Here’s the latest story trailer:
Part of the WitchSpring series of games, the publisher of WitchSpring 3 Re:Fine – The Story of Eirudy (ININ Games) promises it can be enjoyed by those who haven’t played the previous titles. The player becomes Eirudy, a witch who lives in the Misty Forest with her dolls. Witches are feared by humans, but the forest is a safe space. However, Eirudy meets a man, and their fates are changed forever in a new take on the classic good versus evil narrative. I mentioned dolls; they are actually really important. Eirudy absorbs vitality into her soul when she defeats monsters, and this is used to bring her dolls to life. The dolls stand at her side as companions.
Originally launched in December of last year in Japan, WitchSpring 3 Re:Fine – The Story of Eirudy will be available digitally and physically for Nintendo Switch in Europe and North America on August 13.
