Palia is coming to PlayStation and Xbox next month, plus a new expansion launches simultaneously

Free-to-play life sim adventure game Palia first launched in open beta in 2023 before expanding to Nintendo Switch in 2024, and the buzz around it remains active, likely thanks to the 24 content updates (plus monthly updates) that have been released since then. In the world of Palia, craft, explore, and make memories with players across the globe. The game was first available for PC, with the Nintendo Switch launch in 2024; next month, it will come to PlayStation and Xbox. At the same time, a 25th content update drops, introducing players to Elderwood.

Elderwood is a dense, magical, forested Adventure Zone. Familiar characters like Nai’o and Subira will guide players on their new quests. Search for new themed collectibles, fish, insects, plushes, and decor. There are new hostile creatures to hunt, including the Ogapuu and the elusive Shmole. New artifacts are hidden deep in the Elderwood, unlocking a new equipment type called Relics. Relics provide you and your party with unique buffs.

Developed and published by Singularity 6, Palia will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on May 13. It is currently available for PC (Steam/Epic/GeForce NOW/Palia website) and Nintendo Switch. The new PlayStation and Xbox versions support cross-play with the previous versions. The Elderwood expansion also launches on May 13.

Best Served Cold launches for PC in May, later for consoles

Detective-themed visual novel Best Served Cold puts you in the role of bartender at the Nightcap bar. Here, prohibition is killer… as so are some of your customers. You serve great drinks, but you are also about to use your conversation skills to solve a murder mystery. Rogueside Games has announced a May release date for the title and confirmed console versions for a later date.

The Nightcap is the last speakeasy in town, and as the bartender, your drinks make customers speak easily. You play detective while trying to save your bar, listening to your customers’ stories while unravelling a mystery that touches every part of society—from drunken dandies to crooked cops to shady lowlifes. Listening is equally as important as the drink you mix. Listen carefully and keep your wits about you as you decide when to delight, charm, or threaten your patrons to get the information you seek. Who can you trust, who has your back, and who will stab you in it?

Developed and published by Rogueside Games, Best Served Cold will be released for PC via Steam on May 5. There are plans to release it for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series at a later date.

The premium physical edition of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus for Nintendo Switch is getting a re-release

Doki Doki Literature Club Plus is a beloved psychological horror game wrapped up in cute pink packaging. The “Plus” in the name is because it has several differences compared to the original game, including high-definition visual effects, six new side stories, and new music. When DDNet Editor-in-Chief Matt reviewed the game for Nintendo Switch in 2021, he wrote that it aimed “to pull at the very structural threads that bind the ‘dating game’ visual novel together to better understand and appreciate it.” It has been released as a premium physical edition before, and now the title is getting re-released in that format.

The premium physical edition of Doko Doki Literature Club Plus includes a physical copy of the game for Nintendo Switch, a poem notebook inner cover sheet, four character standees, a soundtrack download code, a sticker sheet, a Doki Doki Literature Club membership card, and a special poem from Monika.

Doki Doki Literature Club Plus is all about poetry and romance. As the main character, you reluctantly join the Literature Club looking for a love interest. Write poems for your crush, erasing mistakes along the way to get the ending you desire. Charm your crush to unfold the horrors of high school romance.

Developed by Team Salvato and co-developed/published by Serenity Forge, the premium physical edition of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus will be released for Nintendo Switch on June 5.

Yes, I have more Spray Paint Simulator news!

I have followed Spray Paint Simulator through its initial PC announcement, two demos, and its Xbox and PlayStation announcements. It only makes sense that I’m back with a new platform announcement: Spray Paint Simulator will launch for Nintendo Switch alongside all other major consoles when it is released next month.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
