The key art for Casebook 1889 – The Leipzig Murders.

Richly atmospheric, retro-inspired point-and-click adventure game Casebook 1889 – The Leipzig Murders transports players to a chapter of European history that is rarely explored. Set in Germany at the turn of the 20th century, you take on the role of Detective Joseph Kreiser as he investigates a string of murders. The game was funded on Kickstarted back in 2022, and it is officially launching for PC sometime in 2025.

Kreiser will examine clues, interrogate suspects, solve environmental puzzles, and piece together evidence inside hand-pixelated scenes inspired by meticulous historical research. Use his notebook and deduction board to combine evidence, draw conclusions, and unmask the culprit.

From a press release, here are the key features of Casebook 1889 – The Leipzig Murders:

  • Uncover vital evidence. Scour beautifully hand-pixellated environments for hidden clues, brought to life with detailed, handcrafted animations. Each scene captures the atmosphere of a bustling 19th-century Leipzig, Germany.
  • Interrogate suspects and witnesses. Cross paths with witnesses and suspects alike—but it’s up to you to tell them apart. Gain their trust, ask the right questions, and uncover what they’d rather keep hidden.
  • Use your notebook. Keep track of every observation and witness statement in your notebook, where each scene has its own dedicated page for easy reference when you need it most.
  • Draw your own conclusions. Combine clues in your notebook to unlock new conclusions on your deduction board. Piece together the facts and identify the true culprit from a list of suspects.
  • Your choices will matter. Your choice of culprit in each of the four cases determines the outcome, making this a true test of your deductive skills. A sharp eye and keen mind are your greatest weapons in the fight against crime.
