This post will get a bit gruesome, so avert your eyes now if you must! Autopsy Simulator blends horror and simulation, leaning heavily on the horror aspect for the graphics as you dissect humans to determine their cause of death. The game launched for PC last year to mixed player reviews and meh critic reviews; however, the title has been updated since then. Announced today, Autopsy Simulator will no longer be a PC exclusive when it releases for PlayStation and Xbox in early April.

Autopsy Simulator is a first-person medical horror-sim hybrid that puts you in the role of a practice pathologist. The realistic cases have been created with the help of real-world forensic doctors. Guide each examination and dissection of atomically-correct deceased person to determine their cause of death. Use authentic tools and procedures, along with good old-fashioned power of deduction, to uncover the mysteries behind the deaths.

The game also includes a self-contained, narrative-driven psychological horror experience called Autopsy Simulator: Dead Memories. You play as Jack, a pathologist in 1990s New Orleans. He has lost his wife and his career is suffering. One day, he finds a relic of his past… hidden inside a body, found during the autopsy. As Jack battles his inner demons, he will unravel the mystery while performing post-mortem procedures.

According to publisher Team17 Digital, Autopsy Simulator’s key features are:

  • Gruesome anatomical detail and medically certified autopsy procedures: Dissect anatomically accurate bodies using a range of autopsy procedures authentic to real-world practice pathology
  • Realistic true crime scenarios: Study a range of case files designed by real-life pathomorphologists and forensic doctors and use what you learn to guide your approach to each autopsy
  • Self-contained story mode with simulation gameplay: In Autopsy Simulator: Dead Memories, follow a gripping personal mystery while performing medically accurate autopsy procedures vetted by a certified pathologist
  • Free play ‘Autopsy Only’ mode: Learn the ins and outs of practice pathology by completing unique autopsy scenarios and unravelling the mysteries of death

Developed by Woodland Games and published by Team17 Digital, Autopsy Simulator will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on April 3. It is currently available for PC (Steam).

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
