Remember the childhood game of trying to keep a balloon in the air without it hitting something and popping? Bubble Ghost Remake is like that, but it hopefully involves fewer children screaming gleefully. Remaking a classic platformer from 1990, the game has been remade from the ground up. It adds some new updates to bring it up to current standards, but the heart should remain. In the game, players help renowned inventor Heinrich Von Schinker guide a bubble to safety. Bubble Ghost Remake is set to launch for PC and Nintendo Switch late next month.
Bubble Ghost Remake is a whimsical story of a ghost and his bubble as he explores an enchanted mansion. Returning to Northern England after a war, master inventor and tinkerer Heinrich Von Schinker finds everything is different — and that’s not including the fact he is now dead! His loyal creations have gone rogue, as have the wild animals he left behind. Searching for answers (and the love of his life), Von Schinker decides to guide a mysterious bubble to freedom, hoping to find his own as well.
This remake of the Game Boy classic features fully revamped graphics and sounds, 40 “fresh” platforming levels across five worlds, 35 iconic levels from the original title, hidden game modes, and more. There are secret rooms, alternate endings, in-game achievements, collectibles, a global leaderboard, a new Challenge, a new Speedrun mode, and a Hall of Fame with the names of the world’s best players.
Bubble Ghost Remake will be released both digitally (PC, Nintendo Switch) and physically (Nintendo Switch). The physical standard edition will be available in North America and Europe, while the Collector’s Edition will only launch in Europe. The Collector’s Edition includes an oversized box with exclusive artwork, a physical edition of the game, a printed original prequel comic, the soundtrack by Fran Romguer on CD, a selection of stickers, and a Bubble Ghost Remake acrylic standee.
Developed by Nakama Game Studio and published by SelectaPlay, Bubble Ghost Remake will be released for PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch on March 27.
