Idea Factory International (IFI) is great about physical releases and special editions of its titles, and its plans for Battlefield Waltz are no different. The publisher has announced the physical Plus Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition of the otome visual novel, and that’s on top of the digital and physical Standard Editions. There’s also a Day One Edition available in Europe. Battlefield Waltz is set to launch for Nintendo Switch in April.
Before I get to the news, a quick note: In Europe, pre-orders are open for the physical Day One Edition, which includes a physical copy of the game, a reversible cover sleeve, a double-sided poster, a set of character cards, a sticker sheet, and a collector’s box.
From launch, Battlefield Waltz will be available as a Digital Deluxe Edition. It includes a digital copy of the game and a 33-page digital art book.
The Plus Edition is available in Europe and North America. It includes a physical copy of the game, a book containing art and short stories, a reversible cover sleeve, and a reversible sleeve. The 120-page art book includes illustrations, character art, rough sketches, and more. There are also six short stories written by scriptwriter Yuma Katagiri featuring the characters of Battlefield Waltz, ready for a post-completion read. The reversible sleeve features the original Japanese key art.
The physical Standard Edition and the Plus Edition will be available for pre-order on March 4. (Each version includes a trading card.)
Here is a description of the game, from Idea Factory International:
A girl loses everything, all in one day. Her village, and even worse—her father…
In their place, she acquires a new power. When she takes up a sword to protect herself and her loved ones, she discovers that it is “cursed” and holds immense power. Having obtained something that could shake the very foundations of the nation, the girl has no choice but to live on the battlefield.
The ultra-nationalistic military academy, Nirvana, becomes her new home. There, young men and women who excel in combat gather to compete and sharpen their skills, regardless of their background. She meets new people, forges strong bonds, and finds what she thought she’d lost: a place to belong.
Developed by Idea Factory and published by Idea Factory International, Battlefield Waltz will be released digitally and physically for Nintendo Switch on April 8.
