Mohammad Fahmi’s Afterlove EP will be released on Valentine’s Day

Afterlove EP is a dating simulation, rhythm, and narrative adventure game from Coffee Talk and What Comes After creator Mohammad Fahmi; he unexpectedly passed away nearly three years ago, but his team committed to completing his final project. The game follows a young musician named Rama who struggles to move on after his girlfriend Cinta dies. Yes, irony at its finest: the last game Fahmi created was about living after the loss of a loved one. Valentine’s Day is a good choice for launch day, as Afterlove EP is the indie studio’s love letter to him.

There is no release date trailer (yet?), but here is one from a few months ago regarding the launch window:

In modern-day Jakarta, Rama is stuck. His good friends and bandmates want to help him move forward, but it’s been more than a year since his girlfriend’s death. He is neglecting everything he once held dear. He also keeps hearing Cinta’s voice in his head, unsure whether she’s a spirit or part of his imagination. But when his band has a critical gig, Rama only has one month to pull it together and deliver some new songs before the band leaves him behind. Your choices over 28 days and 28 nights determine his path. What relationships are worth repairing? What new ones should be pursued?

Developed by Pixselnesia and published by Fellow Traveller, Afterlove EP will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series on February 14.

Eerie visual novel Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka announced

Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka is about a group of young people living in an eerie world, caused by endless twilight. They struggle against cruelties and confront inescapable traumas. The story is written by industry veteran Yukito Urushibara, known for Irotoridori no Sekai and Sakura Moyu. The visuals are by prolific illustrator Saine, who has worked as an illustrator for Vocaloid music videos and as a VTuber designer. Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka will support English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese at launch.

The human heart is a vessel for pain. Life is made of an infinite loop of highs of lows, with the pain remaining in the heart. But Tachibana Sai cannot feel pain in his heart, making his life monotonous… until a chance meeting with a young girl. She resembles a beautiful doll and has an aloof demeanour. At this moment, Sai experiences his first piercing heart pain representing the feeling of falling in love. They live in the same apartment building as others, including an ambitious girl who always wants to help, a boy infatuated with himself, and a messy woman who solves problems using brute force. Each had hands stained red with blood from battling supernatural beings. The residents will encounter the hearts they never knew and start nurturing their souls.

Developed by Frontwing and published by Bushiroad Games, Perennial Dusk: Kinsenka will be released for PC in 2025.

Nekoparaiten! is cancelled (boo) and Nekopara Sekai Connect is announced (yay!)

Pre-pandemic, Yostar Games announced anime neko romance sim Nekoparaiten!, a new Nekopara game designed for smartphones that was supposed to launch in 2020. It never did get released and it is officially no longer in production. Instead, its new catgirls are arriving in something new for PC and smartphones: heartwarming cat comedy game Nekopara Sekai Connect.

By Good Smile Company and Neko Works, Nekopara Sekai Connect features the beloved catgirls from the original games and new international catgirls. Nekopara creator Sayori herself has planned the game. At launch, it will only support Japanese; English and Simplified Chinese support will be added later.

Nekopara Sekai Connect will be released for iOS/Android and PC via Steam during Q2 2026.

Mystery visual novel Ghost Traveler: Adventures in Edo announced

When a boy goes back in time to Japan’s Edo period, he becomes caught up in a series of bizarre murders. Ghost Traveler: Adventures in Edo follows him as he attempts to solve the mystery of the murders in the Yoshiwara red light district and, hopefully, find his way back to the present. The game will support English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese at launch.

A 17-year-old named Kotaro is swept up by a supernatural phenomenon in today’s Shibuya. He loses consciousness, only to awaken in Edo Japan. “God” tells Kotaro that his body is dead and he exists only as a soul, and he has been transported back in time to the Edo period. “God” isn’t much help past that, so Kotaro wanders the streets searching for clues. When he stumbles upon a new murder, he appoints himself “detective” and wants to solve the case. Soon, Kotaro will be confronted by a series of bizarre murders.

From Success Corporation, Ghost Traveler: Adventures in Edo will be released digitally for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch sometime this year.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
