During my countless hours spent riding public transit, I’ve rarely cared who is next to me — and I’m quite a picky person! (I don’t drive and I’ve often commuted across the city for months at a time, so bus time was my quiet time.) But in Is This Seat Taken? a group of hilariously particular people need you to play matchmaker on the bus. They each have pet peeves, and each must be happy with the end result. The cozy puzzle game has been announced for Android, iOS, and PC/Mac/Linux via Steam.

Is This Seat Taken? is a heartfelt puzzle adventure that’s all about finding yourself in fitting in. It is a cozy, silly, relatable experience that might leave you wondering, “Does this person really smell bad?” You can unlock new levels by finding each person their perfect spot.

Here is a full description of the game, from publisher Wholesome Games Presents:

When aspiring actor Nat finally sees a shape like them on the big screen, a globetrotting adventure of self-discovery kicks off. Whether it’s a crowded movie theatre, a wedding reception, or even a cramped taxi cab, you’ll need to find the perfect spot to seat people with clashing quirks before advancing to the next level. Be careful not to seat someone blasting their music next to a sleepy passenger because they won’t be too happy. This cozy puzzler is full of charm, humour, and a whole lot of heart.

Developed by Poti Poti Studios (shoutout to the folks over there, they have a Bluesky account and no X account!) and published by Wholesome Games Presents, Is This Seat Taken? will be released for PC/Mac/Linux via Steam, and iOS/Android. A demo will be released through Steam on February 10.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
