Panic reveals FMV game Blippo+ without telling the world exactly what it is

It's weird and I want it.

The key art for Blippo+. Video is no game.

I don’t entirely understand newly announced FMV game Blippo+ is, but I don’t think I’m meant to. Either way, it doesn’t matter: I’m fully invested. In my mind, I’m already throwing every cent I have at Panic. Who needs to do things like pay a mortgage or feed a family when you could play… “play”?… whatever this is? The title is Blippo+. The developer is Blippo+. Everything is Blippo+.

Let’s start with the basics. What is Blippo+? A streaming service? And who is behind it? Today’s announcement trailer creates more questions than it gives answers, but I bet Blippo+ will be exactly the game promises to be: an over-the-top, live-action television experience in “glorious” 1-bit video.

Confirmed publisher Panic has very little to say about Blippo+. Here is the information provided straight from the horse’s mouth (text in blue):

The whole who made Blippo+ thing is a bit confusing, but this is what I can tell from Day of the Devs: the companies listed as working on the title as Yacht, Telefantasy Studios, and Panic. Some media outlets list Panic as the developer, which I believe to be at least partially true. Panic is definitely the publisher though — and I can practically see the game running on the Playdate already.

Blippo+ will be released for PC via Steam, ^^(`~*, and ?’%^*9 soon. And no, I’m not suddenly in the middle of a health crisis: those platforms are a direct quote from Panic.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
