Valentine’s Day 2025 is shaping up to be a wonderful week for video game players: so far, Date Everything! and The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II both launch that day. But one day prior, a game that may not be on your radar (yet) will be released. Urban Myth Dissolution Center is a mystery adventure visual novel that follows Azami Fukurai as she takes on cases involving urban myths. She works at the titular centre (sorry, I’m Canadian, outside of names/titles that’s how I spell it!), a one-stop shop for investigating and (dis)solving incidents involving monstrous oddities, cursed relics, and dimensional anomalies. Coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, the game is now confirmed for a mid-February release date.

The Center is privately owned by Ayumu Meguriya. Its specialty is onsite and online adaptive research and collection (aided by the Center Director’s abilities in divination) of myths that are born both online and offline.

Azami is hired at the Center because she can see others’ intentions and residual thoughts through her glasses. She is learning on the job under the watchful eye of Center Director and Level S psychic Ayumu. He can’t do onsite research but he has amazing clairvoyant abilities. Jasmine has the title of Onsite Operative and the Urban Myth Dissolution Center; her surprising wealth of skills includes driving and surveillance ops.

Urban Myth Dissolution Center is presented in episodes (or chapters). You’ll take control of Azami for her detective legwork. This means collecting circumstantial evidence and scouring social media posts to find the truth behind each myth. You’ll also learn the secret past of your clients and how they became involved with each oddity. Each episode has a resolution and unintended consequences.

For your social media research, just keep digging until you see any hint of your case. Search for suspicious keywords to trace the story back to its originator. Field investigations involve interviewing the clients and their associates, and checking out suspicious locations. This is where Azami can use her skill to reveal hidden details. Pinpointing the urban myth will uncover its cause and help you decide on the next steps. Any truth hidden in the dark is soon to come under a spotlight.

Developed by Hakababunko and published by Shueisha Games, Urban Myth Dissolution Center will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on February 13, 2025.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
