Dungeon Inn launches in Early Access next month

Cozy management game Dungeon Inn may sound common at first glance, but there’s a twist: it is strategic and turn-based! A prologue is available to play now, with the Early Access version of the game set to launch in mid-November. With the Early Access launch, Dungeon Inn will include four chapters filled with a quirky narrative and engaging puzzles; it will take about five hours to complete.

The narrative of Dungeon Inn involves managing the titular inn while two guilds are going at it. Turn-based strategies are used to draw in adventurers or slow them down so the guilds stay separated. With this gameplay mechanic, you can prevent clashes while boosting your profits. Clashes are unavoidable, so you can send in covert armoured fighters to boost one guild’s favour and reduce suspicion that you are double-dealing.

Developed by Cat Society and published by Spiral Up Games, Dungeon Inn will be released in Early Access for PC via Steam on November 14.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart coming to Switch in Japan

Originally released for PS Vita in 2014 in Japan and early 2015 in the West, plus a PC version in 2016, Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart is coming to modern consoles. Well, one modern console: the game will launch for Nintendo Switch in Japan in February 2025. This version will include additional characters and powerful equipment that was DLC in the past. I can only roughly translate the official website, but it includes the characters of IEF, Compa, Tiara, and Sting; there is also a “strongest set” for a laundry list of characters, such as Noire, Neptune, Ester, and more.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart is a strategy RPG spin-off of the Neptunia series, presented in a chibi style. You will find many game-referencing allies, fight hordes of enemies on trap-filled maps, and beef up for crazy damage. The status ailments received from enemies are a bit kooky: get pixelated, zombified, or turned into a block of tofu. With Sim Noire mode, Noire will chill at a home to be decorated with furniture and accessories, unlocking extra scenes. The Lily System is built around the idea that the more characters are together in battle, the closer they become. Lily Boost grants special stats and abilities; Lily Points can be used for ultra-special moves and goddess transformations.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart will be released for Nintendo Switch in Japan on February 13, 2025. It will be available physically and digitally.

High School Crisis is coming West for PC and Nintendo Switch

High School Crisis is a dungeon RPG about a group of high school students rushing to escape a school plunged into the demon realm. It features a symbol encounter system where NPCs and enemies are visible on the map, allowing you to approach with a plan. The Korean-made game originally launched with only Korean language support in 2023, but the PC version due next month and the Nintendo Switch version launching later will include English, Japanese, and Korean language settings.

When an earthquake strikes, high schoolers living their normal lives become thrust into a world they’ve never seen before. It’s not their school. It is a maze with strange creatures they are also unfamiliar with. And everything seems to have one goal: killing every single one of the students. Go where you choose by selecting the location on the map and your party will automatically go there. Despite the maze of a map, there is no need to wander through it.

Developed by Pisoft and published by CFK, High School Crisis will be released for PC via Steam globally on November 9. The Nintendo Switch version currently does not have a launch date.

How did Tetris Time Warp come to fruition?

Tetris Forever is an interactive history of the game that includes playable versions of many past titles but only one new game. Tetris Time Warp is a manic mix of Tetris games from the last four decades, each with its own look and rules. It can be played alone or in local co-op multiplayer. Last week’s trailer shows Jason Cirillo, Tetris Time Warp‘s lead designer and programmer, speaking with Digital Eclipse studio head Mike Mika about how Tetris Time Warp came into existence.

Tetris Time Warp begins with the modern era of Tetris but when you encounter a Time Warp Tetrimino, you will wrap back to an era past. So you could jump from the original 1984 version’s gameplay to, say, 1989’s Game Boy title or 1993’s Blombliss series gameplay. It is a new way to mix up several classic gameplay styles.

Developed and published by Digital Eclipse, Tetris Forever will be released for PC via Steam/GOG, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One on November 12.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
