Whispers of the Luminaries is an Aussie-developed idol-themed murder mystery game inspired by the Famicom Detective Club and Ace Attorney series. It is about finding hope in the darkest of times. Following the release of the game’s demo via Steam, its Kickstarter page gained hundreds of followers waiting for the campaign to begin. And it will start soon: the opportunity to back the game will begin in early October.
Whispers of the Luminaries puts you in the shoes of a detective, following four idol trainees as they try to become superstars. The game gets darker the more you uncover the mystery. Nothing is as it seems, and you’re about to head down a rabbit hole.
The game is a hybrid visual novel and adventure game that blends investigation with social sim elements. In the point-and-click game, you will interview witnesses and collect evidence. The gameplay is deduction-based (like Danganronpa). The social sim elements involve free time events where you choose where to go. You will unlock characters’ backstories by deepening your relationship with them. When it’s time to work, head to your office to decide which leads require further investigation.
While there is no trailer for the game yet, you can listen to its first song here:

Developed by VN Heaven, Whispers of the Luminaries is confirmed for PC via Steam, but the Kickstarter campaign will have a goal set for a Nintendo Switch version. Early backers of Whispers of the Luminaries will receive limited-edition art prints and discounted copies of the game.
