Creatures of Ava launching this August

There’s lots of games that involve hunting wild creatures and far less than involve saving them, which is what makes Creatures of Ava stand out. The wild beings you save bring joy and wonder to the world, providing a unique bond that lets you use their skills to travel the land and solve environmental challenges. The creatures were once all peaceful but now they are falling to an infection causing them to act aggressively, so saving them is paramount.

Creatures of Ava follows a 22-year-old adventurer named Vic as she joins an immersive expedition with astute researcher Tabitha. Together, confront what’s been dubbed “the withering.” The narrative was co-created by Rhianna Pratchett, Terry Pratchett’s daughter. The game’s interconnected world encourages curiousity-driven exploration with distinct ecosystems. Combat mechanics involve healing rather than defeating as you play indigenous Flute melodies to tame creatures.

Developed by Inverge Studios and Chibig, and published by 11 bit studios, Creatures of Ava will be released for PC via Steam/Epic/Microsoft/GOG on August 7.

Watch one flat throughout one century in The Berlin Apartment

Just think of how many people could have lived in a single apartment over one hundred years. Tens? Dozens? Over one hundred? The Berlin Apartment takes this concept and divides it into a series of episodes throughout a century. Each episode tells its own story with its own protagonists and even its own genre. The only connection between each episode is the apartment it takes place in (okay, and the person creating the stories to begin with).

A handyman, currently homeschooling his daughter thanks to the pandemic, is tasked with renovating an old apartment. As he finds relics from the past, he spins them into stories for his daughter about the apartment’s former inhabitants. Experience their dreams, the danger around them, the life-defining moments, and more.

Developed and published by bildundtonfabrik, The Berlin Apartment will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.

Orpheus DLC for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical now coming to all platforms at once

When it was first announced, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical’s DLC Orpheus only had a launch date set for the PC version of the game. Last week, it was announced that the DLC would be launching across all platforms on the same day – what a welcome surprise! The DLC, which has you playing as the titular Orpheus (Anthony Rapp), includes six new songs with decisions that will change the songs and the story.

Hermes has brought Orpheus back to the world of the living. You’ll guide Orhpeus through the difficult decisions put upon us mere mortals: who will you date? what are your hopes? what instrument can you rock out on the hardest? You know, life’s burning questions. Reject, embrace, or even rewrite the stories that the world has come to expect of you.

Developed by Summerfall Studios and published by Humble Games, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. The Orpheus DLC will be released on June 27.

Alice’s Adventures Special Pack for PowerWash Simulator launches in July

The more fantastical these expansion packs get for PowerWash Simulator, the more I dig it. The next one is Alice’s Adventures Special Pack, based on – of course – the infamous Alice’s time in Wonderland. It was once a vivid place, but it’s now doused in detritus thanks to the aftermath of the biggest calamity of all… a little girl! These locations feature topsy-turvy, swizzly psychedelic colours, maximalist decor, and some larger than life locales. Sure, you might not always know what you’re washing, exactly. Wash walls and tables and floors, but remember then here even the doors have doors.

You’ll still be doing what you do best: powerwashing stuff! Clean off Wonderland’s Entrance Hall, White Rabbit’s House, Caterpillar’s Mushroom, the Mad Tea Party, and the Queen of Heart’s Court. Don a new outfit, new gloves, and a new powerwasher skin so you don’t find yourself underdressed for the long-awaited tea party!

Developed by FuturLab and published by Square Enix Collective, PowerWash Simulator is available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. Alice’s Adventures Special Pack will be released on July 2. It will also launch for PowerWash Simulator VR on July 11.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
