Last July seems like so long ago but also like it just passed. Earlier today, if you were to ask me when I last wrote about Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution, I’d probably say October. I can’t believe that the action RPG was announced for the West last July. There is an upside to this: it seems like the time that’s passed has made the wait go in the blink of an eye. Today, Idea Factory International announced that Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution will be launching in the West for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch sometime this May.
The goal of the game is simple: rebuild and manage a game company until it becomes a huge corporation. (Do we really want that these days, though? Half the workers would just get laid off.) Within the Game Maker world, Game Makers have started to wage a battle for supremacy in order to acquire shares.
The protagonist is known as Older Nep – how rude! She’ll need strong developers, cutting-edge video games, and market expansion to be successful at building the biggest game studio of the year.
The battle system has been expanded, allowing for a four-person party and dungeons that can be explored on a motorcycle. To boost your party’s stats, create games through disc development and choose creators to work on them. Then ride through Gamindustri’s dungeons to sell off the games. Older Nep is able to challenge enemies for special rewards or test her racing skills through time trials.

Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution first launched in Japan during August 2023. In North America and Europe, it will arrive physically and digitally for the platforms listed below. These releases include English and Japanese voice-overs with French and Spanish (Spain) subtitles. Those in Europe and the UK can sign up through the IFI Online Store to be notified when pre-orders open for the Day One Edition Dual Pack for Nintendo Switch; this edition includes Neptunia Game Maker R;Evolution and Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters Day One Edition, and a special bonus acrylic Shikishi.
Developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart, and published by Idea Factory International, Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in May.
