A shop decoration is actually a dormant Pokémon!

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have been available for some time now, and The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC concluded last month. Or did it? As of today, the DLC’s epilogue is available to play. With it comes a newly discovered Mythical Subjugation Pokémon, Pecharunt. It’s actually quite cute! It appeared to be a shop decoration, but was actually just patiently awaiting its reawakening.

To play The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC epilogue, players must complete “a certain postgame event” in the main game as well as completing the stories from Part 1: The Teal Mask and Part 2: The Indigo Disk. It also requires a Mythical Pecha Berry that is available via Mystery Gift as long as your user account is connected to your Nintendo account, and the system is connected to the internet.

Nobody knows Pecharunt’s history for certain. There is a theory that long ago it travelled to Kitakami with the Loyal Three, each of which was subjugated by Binding Mochi. Pecharunt was after masks coveted by an elderly couple that cared for it. It found itself in battle over the mask, eventually being defeating. It withdrew into its shell, and over time the locals began referring to it as the Never-Rotting Peach.

Pecharunt rolls up poison that’s been secreted from its shell to make Binding Mochi, which it serves to people and Pokémon alike. (Does anybody else find this exceptionally disgusting?) It then uses chains to control whoever (or whatever) eats it. The Binding Mochi also seems to bring out the deepest desires and latest powers of anyone who eats it.

Poison Puppeteer, Pecharunt’s Ability, is new to The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. It causes Pokémon that are poisoned by Pecharunt to also become confused. Pecharunt’s signature move is Malignant Chain, which launches an attack using a chain made of poison that might possibly leave the target badly poisoned.

Pecharunt clearly isn’t as innocent as it looks, but it tries very hard to make people think otherwise. It can feign weakness by weeping and acting like a baby, all to gain the sympathy of others.

Developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is also available now in its entirety.
