No, it's not Sinistea!

Pokémon reveals are always some of my favourite Pokémon news. With hundreds already in existence, it’s interesting to see where GameFreak goes next. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet DLC The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask will feature some new varieties, including Poltchageist. I think it’s pretty cute, as they tend to be! And Poltchageist is so cool it gets not just one trailer, but two.

Poltchageist has a swirl pattern like Sinistea, but its swirl is not a weakness. Poltchageist sprinkles some of its powdery body on its targets or its targets food, draining their life-force while absorbing their energy.

Here is its background story:

Poltchageist is a Matcha Pokémon of the Grass/Ghost type. It stands at a mere 4″ tall, weighting a mere 2,4 lbs. Its ability is Hospitality. It likes to live in old houses where it’s known to patch up broken objects.

Here is its reveal trailer:

In The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask, players go on an annual school trip in collaboration with another school. Visit the land of Kitakami, set at the base of great mountains. It is a tranquil, natural place consisting of rice paddies and apple orchards. Players will unravel the mysterious behind local folklore.

Combined, The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask and Part 2: The Indigo Disk will bring in over 230 Pokémon encountered in other games, but not in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. This number includes Pokémon that will be able to be brought in through Pokémon Home or received in trades. Each part has a new legendary Pokémon: Part 1 has Ogerpon and Part 2 has Terapagos. In Part 1, three new Pokémon will appear as beloved figures: Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipti.

Developed by GameFreak and published by The Pokémon Company, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch. The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero Part 1: The Teal Mask will be released on September 13. Part 2: The Indigo Disk, is expected in late 2023 or early 2024.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
