The developer behind all those Warriors games is back with Fate/Samurai Remnant, a stylized action RPG that will be launching later this year. As with previous titles in the Fate franchise, pairs of Master and heroic spirits – Servants – have been fighting across history in a series of Holy Grail Wars, with the winning team getting an ancient artifact that grants wishes. Fate/Samurai Remnant continues this War in the fourth year of the Keian Era, Edo Period Japan.
It has been decades since the end of a blood-soaked era, and the people are enjoying peace and tranquility. Unfortunately, a battle between seven pairs of Masters and Servants is about to begin, with the Waxing Moon Ritual unfolding in the shadows. The game’s hero is Miyamoto Iori, a young man in Asakusa who finds himself caught in the violence along with his Servant Saber as they fight to be the last pair remaining in order to win the granter of wishes, the Waxing Moon Vessel.
Players take on the role of Iori, who studied the Niten Ichiryu style of swordsmanship. His Servant Saber possesses strength beyond that of humans. When the enemies faced and beyond human control, players can instruct Saber to attack using powerful magic techniques, or take direct control over him to attack the enemy swarm. Servant on Servant battles should be especially good.
Back in January, Matt guessed that Fate/Samurai Remnant would be a Warriors-type game, and it is certainly looking like that is the case. Take a look at today’s trailer:
During the game, players will also get the chance to explore the town of Edo, where row houses, samurai residences, and brothels stand side by side. Many people frequent the streets. While following the story, players will interact with various characters and animals in town, explore different areas, and take on challenges.
A special Treasure Box version of the game will be available exclusively via the NISA Store. It includes the game, and art book, a B2-sized cloth poster, a soundtrack CD, Command Spell stickers, bonus DLC for two costumes, the Official Short Story Translation book, and a collectible box.
Developed by Omega Force and Koei Tecmo, and published by Koei Tecmo, Fate/Samurai Remnant will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on September 28 in Japan and September 29 worldwide.
