I love love. I believe only those with heart made of coal could think otherwise, because love is such a happy feeling. Being kidnapped? That’s less happy. And that’s what happens in Charade Maniacs: a girl is kidnapped but ends up finding love as a result. The game is already available for PS Vita, iOS/Android, and Nintendo Switch in Japan; now Idea Factory International is bringing the game to western Nintendo Switch players this June.
Hiyori Sena is abducted by a mysterious figure that transports her to a strange world called Arcadia. There are nine other abductees there. For a chance at escape, everyone must act out “dramas” while avoiding the trappings of a traitor. Search for clues in your own investigation into what’s going on, and find romance along the way. There are nine potential love interests… though one is that pesky traitor so watch out. (Need practice? Try watching any season of The Traitors – I’m obsessed with that show!) Work together with your costars to weed out the bad one. Deepening love interests is key, and you may even bring out hidden feelings from someone! A handy flowchart feature will keep track of where the story branches off, making it easier to return and take a different route.
A physical limited edition (above) will be available via Idea Factory International’s European and North American stores. North American pre-orders open on May 2 at 10 a.m. PDT. (European pre-orders also open on May 2, though there is no page available for it yet.) The Limited Edition includes the game with a reversible cover sleeve, a steel game case, a “Behind the Curtain” hardcover art book (68 pages), Charade Maniacs: Curtain Call Drama CD, Charade Maniacs: The Next Act short novel (44 pages), a 10-card bromide set, a collector’s box, and an exclusive trading card. A Day One edition will also be available at a later date
Developed by Idea Factory and published by Idea Factory International, Charade Maniacs will be released for Nintendo Switch in the west on June 27.
