Sorry folks, I know I’m a bit late on this news – it’s been a day! Compile Heart has announced the latest Neptunia spin-off, Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution, through Weekly Famitsu. It also released a good amount of information about the game, including a trailer, which it is described as an “enhanced Neptunia” with a new management system. The game is set in Gameindustri – a world based on the real-life game industry.
Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution is set at a new game studio, but in a world filled with others will it be able to acquire its market share? The story weaves together dimension-hopping Adult Neptune, the three “failure goddeses,” and Croire, the recorder of history.
The main goal is to manage a game company, with an eye on expansion. The game promises to be Neptunia but evolved; in addition to the new management system, there is a deeper four-character party battle system, dungeon exploration (high-speed movements by motorcycle), and a photo mode that captures characters with manga-like expressions.
When managing the studio, players will develop “discs” that can strengthen character action skills. As the company grows, better discs can be developed; because of this, expansion is critical. When it comes to the battles, characters cooperate with each other. Returning elements include enhanced CPU transformations and flashy EXE DRive attacks.

There are five confirmed characters at this point. Adult Neptune is a company president who dropped the Nep-Note. Pipi is a a producer, leader but also reckless, and thinks she’s the smartest person in the world. Jarga is a cool girl who talks in abbreviations, and she handles production and PR at the company. Lideo is a mad scientist in charge of programming and graphics. And Croire… she’s a special one. She was sealed in the Nep-Note by Adult Neptune, but has since been freed and is hiding out at a pirate maker’s base.
Developed and published by Compile Heart, Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on August 10 in Japan. There’s no word yet on a western release, but I’d be willing to bet it will happen.
