At one point, March 2023 and the launch of Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key seemed like a lifetime away. Now, we’re basically hurtling towards it. Koei Tecmo and Gust have been releasing tons of information along the way, including seven characters (learn more here and here) and a seven-minute look at the game. Now, the publisher and developer have released more information about World Quests, atelier-building and cooking in the game.

Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is the final game in the “Secret” trilogy. It follows Ryza and her friends as they investigate a strange group of islands that appeared near their hometown. They will visit multiple regions while trying to unravel the mysterious new threat. They will pick up randomly generated quests along the way, but now there’s a new king of quest – World Quests. These tasks are specific to the regions they travel through, and will allow players to learn more about the territories and characters met along the way. It’s not all happy fun time, though, as completing a World Quest may result in changes to the field and other areas.

Bonfires are scattered throughout the fields. Parties can rest here, and Ryza can cook up a storm. Resting changes the time of day and the enemies nearby. The new cooking system allows players to obtain recipes by completing quests, which can help enhance the party or challenge strong enemies. Players will also be able to build an atelier in each region to serve as home base. The effects provided by the Atelier depend on its building style. There are three: the research base for exploration, the farm for gathering, and the laboratory for synthesis.

In addition to gameplay news, Koei Tecmo has also announced a new Premium Box for the PlayStation 5 version of the game, available only on the NISA Store. It includes a copy of the game, an art book, a cloth poster, a mini acrylic character charm, a set of two clear files, and an Early Access serial code for Ryza’s Marine Look of Kurken Shore costume. Those who purchase a physical or digital edition of the game within two weeks of its launch will be able to download a set of seven Summer Look costumes; these may be available for purchase at a later date.

Developed by Gust and published by Koei Tecmo, Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on March 24.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
