RWBY fans, rejoice, as the release date for the upcoming side-scrolling adventure game RWBY: Arrowfell will be release this month (November 2023) for PC and all current consoles. The game – written by RWBY writers Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, and Eddy Rivas – puts players in control of Team RWBY shortly following RWBY Volume 7. There’s also voiceovers from RWBY’s original cast and a brand new vocal theme.
If the name WayForward rings a bell, it should. It’s the same company that’s made numerous great titles, from the Shantae series to River City Girls to Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. The latest Shantae Game was the fifth: Shantae and the Seven Sirens was released in 2020. In his review, Matt says it’s lost a little bit of its lustre and magic, but says that it’s a delights regardless; read that review here.
But back to RWBY: Arrowfell! Here’s the release date trailer:
Control all four members of Team RWBY: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long. Players can instantly switch between characters while battling the Creatures of Grimm and numerous other foes. The four will use their signature weapons: Ruby’s Crescent Rose, Weiss’s Myrtenaster, Blakes’ Gambol Shroud, and Yang’s Ember Celica. Combat can be ranged or melee. The team will explore Atlas, Mangle, and the surrounding wilderness while completing missions for familiar characters and uncovering clues about a new threat working in the shadows.
Team RWBY’s Semblances will also be used. Ruby’s Petal Burst allows her to avoid attacks and dash to far-off locations. Weiss’ Glyphs create platforms that can burst into offensive shards. Blake’s Shadow manifests a doppelgänger that can attack and activate pressure plates. Finally, Yang’s Burn unleashes a ground punch that inflicts damage and destroys obstacles.
Developed by WayForward, and published by WayForward in the west and Arc System Works in Japan, RWBY: Arrowfell will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One on November 15.
