JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has a long, rich history spanning manga, anime, live-action films, and video games. It started with the manga back in 1987; the manga is now going into its ninth arc! The story’s setting is a world similar to our own, but with supernatural forces. The next video game, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, was announced during Sony’s March 10 State of Play, and now we’ve learned that the game will be released this September.
A new trailer was released to announce the game’s impending release date, but that’s not what stands out; the important part is that the trailer shows odd four new characters from the franchise (Robert E. O. Speedwagon, Mariah, Pet Shop, and Diego Brando) can be seen in-game for the first time ever.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R promises to be the biggest game in the franchise to date, collection over 50 characters from every story arc in the anime series. Players can actually play popular battles they’ve seen in the past. Heroes from different universes can come together for the first time. Speaking of heroes, there’s one of note: Jolyne Cujoh, the first-ever female JoJo in the series.
In addition to the release date, some other news was announced regarding different editions. There will be both a physical and a digital Standard Edition. There will also be a Digital Deluxe Edition that includes the game, an Animation Special Even Colour Set for several characters (Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, and Giorno Giovanna), the Season Pass (which includes four new playable characters and two exclusive costumes), and two days of early access to the Season Pass characters. Finally, there is a Collector’s Bundle available exclusively through Bandai Namco, which includes the game, an Animation Special Even Colour Set for several characters (the same as above), and a Special Colour version of the Grandista series’ Jolyne Cujoh 10-inch statue.
Developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One on September 1 in Japan and September 2 everywhere else. A Demo will be coming “soon” to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
