It’s no secret that I absolutely hate the way that video games have led the charge in dragging the art world into late-stage capitalism. From borrowing increasingly heavily from the tactics that gambling companies use, to the embrace of subscriptions services (which, contrary to what the suits want you to believe, only benefit the suits), and on to the consolidation that is running rampant through the sector, the capitulation to toxic capitalism by this industry, and the way the audience actually cheers it on is grotesque.
I was invited to be on the most excellent Blowing Cartridges podcast to discuss all of this, and it proved to be a fascinating chat. We go in-depth into everything that has been going on in recent years, and the implications that it all has for the future.
