As has become an annual tradition at DDNet, we are here to help you count down towards Christmas! One new game every day for the 24 days from December 1 to Christmas Eve. Think of it as a kind of Advent Calendar, if you will, giving you new tips and ideas for games to pick up and play at that rare time of year where everyone does have a little more time to indulge their favourite hobbies.
Also, it’s an excuse to post pictures of cute anime girls in Christmas gear every day. I won’t deny that we love doing that too.
We haven’t actually reviewed Serious Sam 4 yet (it’s on its way, it’s just that the game only finally released on PlayStation 5). You might, however, be wondering why we would include a big-violence shootybang game in the list of Christmas games. It doesn’t seem much in the Christmas spirit (and no, Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie). But there is a Christmas mode easter egg and… it’s incredible.
Hahahahaha Serious Sam 4 has an AMAZING Christmas Mode and the music is Jingle Bells. This is my kinda shooter. #PS5Share, #SeriousSam4 pic.twitter.com/7XFwB5PIoN

At the start of the first level there’s a Christmas tree that you can optionally decorate by finding five decorations in the area. Do so and the entire world becomes a wintery wonderland among the carnage and when the action picks up, the famously rock-tastic take on Jingle Bells kicks in. The enemies even get in the spirit of things, with skeleton monsters coming at you in Christmas hats and wielding candy canes. It’s ridiculous, silly, and incredibly entertaining. It’s Serious Sam at its absolute best, and it is oddly good and hits the seasonal notes perfectly.
