Nippon Ichi has the “twisted fairy tale” aesthetic and tone down pat. Especially with these 2D puzzle platformer game things that it keeps producing. A Rose in the Twilight and htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary on the PlayStation Vita are both perfect examples of NIS’ mastery over this particular form, and The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince looks like it’s going to be yet more of that very special experience.
NISA has announced the western release date for the game; it lands on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on February 12 next year. To help whet our appetites for it, the company has also released a new, extended trailer, introducing the two main characters and some of the situations that they’ll get themselves involved in on their travels.
Accompanied by an emotive and evocative soundtrack, this looks like it’s shaping up to be one of the early highlights of next year. Keep a close eye on it!
