Some sad news for all of Hidetaka Suehiro, a.k.a. SWERY; the genius behind Deadly Premonition and D4 has announced that he needs to take a break, as he has fallen quite ill.
From the Access Games blog:
Starting today, I will be taking a short break from game development, in order to focus on recovering from reactive hypoglycaemia… I’ve decided that I need to take a rest here, so that I can hopefully continue to make games in the future.
Reactive hypoglycaemia is debilitating, but not life-threatening (at least, I think that’s the case. I’m not a doctor so don’t take my word as based in fact). Essentially it’s an issue with blood sugar levels.
I had the opportunity to meet Suehiro, when I interviewed him for my book, and he really is the complete package – incredibly friendly and easy to work with, and an utter genius and fan of the arts and artistry of game design.

So we wish Suehiro-san a speedy recovery, and hope that we see him back out there making the games that only he can soon.
