Square Enix reveals details about upcoming RPG Project Setsuna

Previously announced at its E3 2015 press conference, Square Enix has begun giving fans small tastes of what it to come from the upcoming RPG, Project Setsuna. In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, Square Enix producer, Yosuke Matsuda, confirmed that the working title (Project Setsuna) comes from the Japanese word “setsunasa” – that means sorrow, for those of us who don’t speak Japanese.

Project Setsuna is being developed by indie company Tokyo RPG factory; most of the staff are external developers and freelancers. A release date as early as next year is expected. With Pixar film Inside Out being based heavily on emotions and being a box office hit, it will be interesting to see if the current momentum of mental health awareness will have an impact on the success of an obviously emotion-based JRPG.
