We’re counting down to Christmas!

There is a long history in Christmas in counting down the days from the first of December to the big day – after all, who hasn’t had an Advent Calendar at some point?
So we’re celebrating the silly season with a countdown of our own. One game that has been released this year that makes for the perfect Christmas game, each day, all the way down to Christmas Eve.
You can see previous games on our own little Advent Calendar on the side of the site. Just click on any date that has passed and you’ll be redirected (don’t get too excited and jump ahead though – the current page will simply reload). Hopefully it keeps you and your family in the good times for the whole of the best time of year.
Happy gaming!

 The 24 Games Of Christmas
Day #9: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Technically this just became the 25 games of Christmas, but hopefully you’ll forgive us either in the spirit of the season or them being the same thing. Anyhow, Game Freak’s latest Pokémon duo is a revisiting of a classic that multiple writers here have poured hundreds of hours into. With the time off the holiday permits, you can bet every trainer worth their salt is going to be hunting a slew of monsters to fill up that Pokédex or conquer those competitions.
A holiday spent playing a JRPG doesn’t have to be an insular experience, however. Aside from the usual multiplayer options offered by the series, Omega and Alpha allow players to build secret bases and swap them via QR codes. From there you can forge partnerships, battle friends, and more.

It might not be a substitute for real interactions with friends, but visiting the holiday-themed virtual abode of a pal is one way to get into the holiday spirit.
…or, if you’re a particularly generous soul, you can unload that spare shiny 6IV level 100 Deoxys via Wonder Trade to some six year old in exchange for his lovely Zigzagoon. It’s the season to give, after all.
