From Software and Bandai Namco Games need to consider packaging a pair of knee guards, inspired by the sleekness of Gothic plate armour, with future Souls titles; all this talk of the DLC’s challenges “bringing players to their knees” has me considering taking ice baths to prevent my slender leg joints from hypothetically swelling. But that is just what the latest DLC confidently promises to do: Bring you to your knees.
Available today for individual purchase or through the Season Pass bundle on Steam, Playstation Store, and Xbox Live Marketplace, Crown of the Old Iron King is the second chapter in The Lost Crowns DLC trilogy, and it wants you dead.
This expansion wants you dead with such enthusiasm that it’s overjoyed to send you into a presumed suicide tower “swamped by black mist where flames, smoke and sorcery sadistically lurk.”
Well congratulations, From Software; you’ve brought me to my knees, and I’ve yet to even experience the expansion. (This never would’ve happened had I been wearing knee guards emblazoned with a Dark Souls II logo. Just sayin’.)
