If you’re interested in roguelikes, then start up indie developer, Grimm Bros. has a twist on the Red Riding Hood fable that you’re going to want to pay attention to.

Dragon Fin Soup is a bona fide hit over at Kickstarter, where it has already surpassed its base target, with 22 days left to go of the campaign. Now the team’s looking to its stretch goals, which include PlayStation 3, 4 and Vita ports, and it’s no wonder that the game is performing well; it looks spectacular.

The team at Grimm Bros. is just five strong, but its founders are veterans of the industry. Ash Monif has had experience at EA, Bioware, Atari and Subatomic Studios in his 15 year career, while Randis Albion is an award-winning concept artist.

So it’s no surprise that the first thing you’ll notice about the Dragon Fin Soup, the team’s first game, is how visually striking it looks. This is clearly the work of some experienced artists.

The gameplay itself looks like an interesting mix of tactics-style movement and roguelike level design. Fire Emblem mixed with Mystery Dungeon? Sign me up.
